Caravan Sites in England are are finally gearing up to re-open from the 4th July subject to the government’s go-ahead. However, this will only happen if the government is satisfied that easing lockdown measures will not contribute to a second peak. Site owners have been working hard to implement social distancing measures and are keen to let customers know how this will be done. Each site is operating a slightly different plan so it is worth checking before booking. Get ready to book your holiday!

What to Expect

Caravan sites are busy making announcments on how they plan to re-open. This includes increased cleaning regimes and many have suggested that they will reduce numbers on site to allow more space between pitches. Some sites will be adding more toilets and showers, while others may introduce time slots for using these facilities. A few sites have said that they are not opening their amenity blocks; they are only accepting bookings from touring caravan and motorhome owners who have on-board facilities. Contactless check-in and 2 metre spacings where queuing is necessary will be the new normal. Many sites have said that they will endeavour to reopen facilities such as on-site shops where possible too. Site owners are hoping these measures will give customers the confidence to holiday this summer.

Are You Ready?

So with caravan sites nearly ready to welcome caravanners back, is your caravan or motorhome good to go? It has been a long time since any of us have been able to use our beloved caravan and no doubt you are anxious to make the most of the summer if we are allowed. The Caravan and Motorhome Club have published some good advice here. We can’t stress enough how important it will be to rectify any niggles before you go away; Many fixed and mobile workshops are not offering an emergency call-out service due to the inability to socially distance.
